Voter Registration Information
In New York State, as elsewhere, a qualified person must register before they can vote. Below are listed the qualifications a person needs in order to vote, how to get the Registration Form and where to get answers on other registration questions.
Requirements
In order to Register and Vote, a person must:
- be a United States citizen;
- be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file this form (note: you must be 18 years old by the date of the general, primary or other election in which you want to vote);
- live at your present address at least 30 days before an election;
- not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction and;
- not claim the right to vote elsewhere.

Where to Pick Up the Form
A Voter Registration Form may be obtained by visiting any county board of elections office, post office, department of motor vehicles office, or by calling the Dutchess County Board of Elections at 845-486-2473.
